Frequently Asked Questions

As a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA), I have a fiduciary duty to my clients. This means that I must put my client’s needs ahead of my own and make recommendations that are in my client’s best interest. This is a higher standard of care then the suitability standard, followed by broker-dealers, which only requires that advisor recommendations be suitable for the needs of the client.

As a fee-only financial advisor, I am paid directly by my clients.  I do not receive sales commissions, referral fees, service fees, or other forms of compensation from any outside party.

As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® professional, I’m uniquely qualified to help women understand the financial aspects of their divorce before agreeing to any terms. I can support you during your divorce so that you can make informed decisions about settlement options. This can include topics such as strategies for the family home, comparison of various settlement offers, insurance strategies to protect you post-divorce and help in understanding the tax implications of your settlement.
Yes, Reset Financial Planning is a virtual firm and I work with women across the country. I leverage video conferencing and other technology to allow us to securely share personal information. If you happen to live in the Phoenix, Arizona area, we can also meet locally, at a location where you will be comfortable discussing your finances.
You should interview several financial planners before making a commitment. You will want to make sure you align on philosophy as well as personality. My ideal clients are women who are going through a major life transition after losing a spouse, either due to death or divorce. They value having a long-term relationship with someone they can trust to be their financial advocate and understand that financial planning requires effort from both the planner and the client.
